Why narrow slots

The fine slots keep pad wear flat and parallel, which avoids the record-groove galling that builds up on plain discs and keeps pad contact consistent through the life of the set. The result is reduced fade at speed, cooler running brakes, and less of the air noise that wide-aperture rotors can produce. Fine slotted discs also resist the cracking that through-drilled discs are prone to, which suits a heavy SUV that spends most of its life on the road.
