Why slotted

The wide-aperture 3GD slot draws cool air across the braking area and clears dust, gas, dirt and debris quickly, so the discs run cooler under sustained load. A slotted face also maintains flat and parallel pad wear and avoids the record grooves and galling common with plain discs, which keeps pad contact consistent for the life of the set.
