Replace rotors in pairs across an axle so braking stays even from side to side. Remove the protective shipping coating from the friction faces before install, and make sure the hub face is clean and free of rust so the rotor seats flat and runs true.

The machined face pattern is designed to vent gas and pad dust away from the friction surface, which keeps bite consistent once the brakes are hot. Bed the new rotors and pads in together with a series of moderate stops before driving hard, and expect light face shading afterward.
