The T-Slot pattern sweeps pad debris and gas out of the contact patch so the friction surface stays clean lap after lap and stop after stop. Because the slotting is uni-directional, the rotor is side-specific: order two if you are replacing both front corners, and mount each one so the slots sweep in the correct direction of wheel rotation.
