Why Drilled and Slotted for GMT800
- Better heat shedding — the GMT800 front brake is undersized for the truck's weight when loaded; drilled/slotted face lets gases and water escape faster
- E-coating on hat and edges — the rotor cosmetic edges stay rust-free through daily driving and winter salt
- Bolt-on replacement — no modification required, works with factory calipers
- Right choice for tow or off-road use — if the truck sees mountain grades, hauling, or off-road duty, drilled/slotted rotors handle the heat better than plain-face
- For pure daily driving — plain-face rotors work fine and cost less; drilled/slotted is upgrade territory
Install Notes
- Torque caliper bracket bolts per GM GMT800 service spec (typically 129 ft-lb bracket)
- Silicone caliper grease on slider pins — not chassis grease
- Bed pads with matching new rotors: 8-10 medium stops from 40 to 10 mph, then 2-3 harder stops from 60 to 15 mph, air-cool between
- Measure old rotor before removing to confirm 11.99 inch (304.6 mm) diameter
- Consider matching new pads — old pads on new rotors transfer material unevenly
