Critical: 1999 Silverado / Sierra front caliper split by piston count. Verify your original caliper is dual-piston (not single-piston) before ordering — that determines whether this pair fits. Full brake parts collection for single-piston GMT800 variants and GMT900 (2007+) versions.
Why Loaded Caliper vs Bare
- Bracket included — saves the transfer step and ensures a fresh mating surface
- Direct bolt-on — no cleaning up old bracket corrosion, no fighting seized bracket bolts
- Pair-replacement standard — always replace both sides at once to keep braking balanced
- Common failure mode on GMT800 — original phenolic pistons corrode after 100k+ miles; new calipers restore consistent pedal feel
Install Notes
- Torque caliper bracket bolts per GM GMT800 service spec (typically 129 ft-lb bracket, 24 ft-lb slider)
- Silicone caliper grease on slider pins — not chassis grease
- Bench-bleed each caliper before install if pistons feel dry
- Never re-use the old brake hose if pedal feels spongy — internal rubber degrades after 15+ years
- Replace pads and consider new rotors in the same job for best pedal feel
- Bleed the wheel farthest from the master cylinder first (passenger rear on this platform)
