Critical: verify 6-lug wheel pattern. Some late-generation GMT800 configs run 8-lug and take a different pad. Full brake pad catalog for GMT900 (2007+) platform variants.

Why Ceramic on the GMT800

  • Low dust - the original GMT800 factory pad was semi-metallic; a ceramic replacement keeps the wheels much cleaner
  • Quieter under braking than semi-metallic, matters more as the truck ages
  • Better cold bite than the original OE ceramic - solid daily-driver upgrade
  • Right choice for the 1500 half-ton - if you tow above 8,000 lb or drive an Avalanche 2500 platform, consider semi-metallic instead

Install Notes

  • Torque caliper bracket bolts to GM service spec (typically 148 ft-lb bracket on GMT800)
  • Silicone caliper grease on slider pins - not chassis grease
  • Bed pads: 8-10 medium stops from 40 to 10 mph, then 2-3 harder stops from 60 to 15 mph, air-cool between
  • Replace with new rotors if the old rotors are grooved, blue-tinted, or below MIN TH stamp
  • Retract piston fully with a pad-spreader tool before install
