Why braided lines

Rubber hoses expand slightly every time you press the pedal, and that lost motion reads as a soft pedal with a vague bite point. The stainless braid restrains the hose so pressure goes into the caliper instead of into the hose wall, giving a firmer pedal and finer control at threshold braking.
