Why braided lines

Factory rubber hoses swell under pressure, and that swelling shows up at your foot as a soft, vague pedal. A stainless braided outer sheath holds the hose to its shape so more of the pressure you apply reaches the caliper piston, which firms up pedal feel and makes hard braking easier to modulate.
