Replacement rings let you refresh the wear surface of a two-piece rotor assembly and reuse the existing aluminum hats and hardware, which is the whole point of a two-piece design. You replace the consumable part instead of buying a complete rotor assembly every time the friction surface reaches its wear limit.

The slotted face vents gas and clears pad debris so the pad keeps a clean bite through repeated heavy stops. Replace rings in axle pairs and bed a fresh pad set with them so both corners come up to temperature the same way.
