What the design does

Because the iron ring floats on stainless bobbins, it expands and contracts with heat instead of loading up the hat, which resists warping and keeps pedal feel steady. The stainless bobbins also resist corrosion, so the ring keeps floating after years of road salt and weather. Removing unsprung rotational mass sharpens turn-in and reduces the effort the drivetrain spends spinning the wheels. Worn friction rings can be replaced individually while the hub and bobbins are reused.
