The cross drilled and slotted pattern adds exit points so pad friction dust and gases escape through both the holes and the slots, which helps the pad keep a clean bite. DBA positions the X Gold pattern as a popular alternative to the T2 slot for open wheel and show cars, and recommends the T2 slot design for more intensive braking use.

Replace brake rotors in axle pairs so braking stays balanced side to side. Clean the protective coating off both friction faces before installation, and wire-brush the hub face so rust or debris cannot hold the new disc off square, which is the most common cause of runout on an otherwise good rotor.

Fresh rotors work best with fresh pads and a proper bed-in cycle. A complaint of warped rotors is far more often uneven pad material deposited on the disc than a bent casting, so the bed-in procedure matters as much as the part itself. Check runout and pad thickness at every tire rotation.
