The 4000 Series XS combines cross drilling with slotting on the friction face. Both features work on the same problem: clearing the gas and pad debris that build up between pad and rotor during repeated hard stops, which is what makes a hot brake pedal feel long and vague. The XS Gold finish covers the non-friction surfaces to slow surface rust on a rotor that spends its life exposed to road spray, a real consideration on a trail-driven Wrangler or Cherokee.

Because the pattern is uni-directional, the rotors are side specific. Fit them in axle pairs with fresh pads so the two sides bed in together.
