This is a DBA 5000 Series two-piece front brake rotor for the 2003-2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII and IX. It pairs a cast iron T3 slotted friction ring with a separate black hat, so the disc face can expand and move independently of the mounting hat under repeated hard braking.

Why a slotted two-piece rotor

The uni-directional slots sweep gas and pad debris off the friction surface so the pad keeps biting on a clean face, while the two-piece design reduces rotating mass and helps the disc shed heat between stops.
