The uni-directional T-Slot pattern sweeps gas and pad debris off the friction face so the pad keeps a clean bite lap after lap, while the slot layout is arranged to spread wear evenly across the rotor face instead of cutting a groove into the pad. Because the pattern is uni-directional the rotor is side-specific, so check the slot sweep direction against the wheel it is going on before final assembly.
