The uni-directional T-Slot pattern clears gas, water and pad debris off the friction face, which matters most on a heavy body-on-frame truck that has to make repeat stops loaded or towing. Wiping the pad face clean on every revolution also helps bite recover quickly after a water crossing or a long wet descent.

Because the slot pattern is uni-directional the rotor is side-specific, so check the slot sweep direction against the wheel it is going on before final assembly. This rotor is sold individually: order two to do the front axle, and replace in pairs so braking stays balanced side to side.
