Signs you need this part
- Front brakes squeal or make a low-frequency rattle over bumps
- New pads wear unevenly or drag because the old clips are rusted and no longer let the pads slide
- Heat build-up or a pulling sensation from one front wheel
- Corroded, flattened or missing abutment clips found during a pad change
- You are replacing front pads or rotors and want to restore smooth pad movement
Installation notes
Replace the clips each time you change the front pads. Remove the old abutment clips, wire-brush or clean the caliper bracket where the clips seat until the metal is free of rust and brake dust, then fit the new clips fully into place. Lightly lubricate the pad contact points with brake lubricant, keeping it off the pad friction surface and the rotor. After assembly, press the pedal several times to seat the pads, and follow the pad manufacturer's bed-in procedure.
