This MotoRad thermostat for Chevrolet calibrated to OE opening temperature and rate for the target engine.

The engine coolant thermostat is the mechanical valve that controls how quickly the engine warms up and holds the operating temperature. A stuck-closed stat overheats the engine on the highway; a stuck-open stat gives slow warm-up, poor heater output, and a fuel-economy penalty. Replace the gasket or seal at the same time.

Install with the jiggle-valve or bleed hole facing up (for gravity air escape). Refill the cooling system with fresh coolant of the correct type and bleed per the vehicle-maker procedure.
