What Is Electronic Brakeforce Distribution?

Electronic brakeforce distribution, or EBD, is a system that fine-tunes how braking is split between the wheels. It is a smarter, electronic version of the old proportioning valve. Here is what EBD does.

What it does

EBD automatically adjusts how much braking force goes to each axle - and sometimes each wheel - based on load, weight transfer, and grip. Under hard braking, weight shifts forward, so EBD sends more force to the front and eases the rear to keep it from locking.

Replacing the proportioning valve
