- Anti-seize, for the hub face only.
- Penetrating oil, dead-blow mallet, and a wire brush or abrasive disc.

- Rotors in axle pairs plus a new set of pads.
Verify the rear brake configuration for your exact year and trim before ordering. Some older or base trims use rear drums instead of discs, and ordering the wrong parts wastes a weekend.
How to replace brake rotors on a Hyundai Palisade, step by step
- Crack the lug nuts loose with the wheel still on the ground.
- Lift the corner and set the vehicle on jack stands. Chock the wheels still on the ground first.
- Remove the wheel and slide it under the rocker panel as an extra safety measure.
- Unbolt the caliper and hang it from a hook. The brake hose carries no weight, ever. Let the caliper dangle on the hose and you may be replacing the hose too.
- Retract the piston with a C-clamp or piston tool so the caliper clears the thicker new pads.
- Unbolt the caliper bracket from the knuckle. Palisade bracket bolts are torqued high; a breaker bar is normal here, not a sign something is wrong. Hold the bracket as the last bolt comes out.
- Remove the rotor, backing out the small retaining screw first if one is fitted.
- Clean the hub face down to bare metal, then wipe it with brake cleaner.
- Wipe the shipping oil off the new rotor with brake cleaner - both faces, thoroughly - and fit it.
- Reinstall the bracket, pads, and caliper at service-manual torque, greasing the slide pins and contact points.
- Refit the wheel and torque the lugs in a star pattern, then lower the vehicle and re-check.
- Pump the pedal until it is firm before you drive. The first stroke only closes the gap left by the retracted piston.
When the rotor is rusted to the hub

Flood the hat-to-hub joint with penetrating oil and give it several minutes. Then strike around the hat with a dead-blow mallet, turning the rotor a little between hits so the shock travels around the joint rather than concentrating in one place. Use the bedding procedure published by the pad manufacturer, typically a run of moderate-to-firm stops from moderate speed with cooling intervals in between, and avoid stopping and holding the pedal while the brakes are hot. Do this before you tow anything or drive a long grade, not after.
