For the 2019 and newer Genesis G70, the EBC parts we carry fit the 2.0T, and most of them are built for cars with the Brembo brake package. The first thing to settle is which brakes your car has: Genesis built the 2019 G70 with two different brake systems, and pads and rotors for one will not fit the other.
This guide shows how to tell the two apart, which EBC pad compound fits the way you drive, when BSD slotted rotors make sense, and what to check while the wheels are off.
Two Brake Systems on the 2019 G70
The 2019 G70 launch specifications from Genesis list two brake setups. Cars without the Brembo package use 12.6-inch ventilated front discs and 12.4-inch solid rear discs. The Brembo system uses 13.8-inch ventilated front discs and 13.4-inch ventilated rear discs. The Brembo package came standard on the 2.0T Sport with the six-speed manual and on the 3.3T. On other automatic 2.0T trims it was optional. Genesis also fitted performance brake pads to the 2.0T Sport manual. MotorWeek's road test of the 2.0T Sport confirms that car wore Brembo brakes.
| Setup | Front disc | Rear disc | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard brakes | 12.6 in. ventilated | 12.4 in. solid | 2.0T automatic without the Brembo option |
| Brembo brakes | 13.8 in. ventilated | 13.4 in. ventilated | 2.0T Sport manual, 3.3T, and 2.0T cars ordered with the option |
The quickest way to check is to look through the front wheel. The Brembo calipers are large and carry the Brembo name on the caliper body. The standard calipers are plainer and noticeably smaller. You can also check the window sticker or build sheet for the Brembo package. Do this before you order anything, because the rotor sizes differ by more than an inch front and rear.
EBC Brake Pads for the G70: Which Compound
EBC's color-coded compounds cover everything from daily driving to track days. Here is how the G70 pads we stock line up:
- Greenstuff 2000 Series (daily driver upgrade). The EBC Greenstuff front pads DP22356 and Greenstuff rear pads DP22357 are listed for Brembo-caliper 2.0T cars. Pick these for a street car that you want to stop with more bite than stock pads.
- Redstuff (low-dust ceramic street pad). The EBC Redstuff front pad set DP32358C is a good fit for owners who want strong street braking and cleaner wheels.
- Yellowstuff (fast street and occasional track). The Yellowstuff front pads DP42356R and Yellowstuff rear pads DP42357R suit a Brembo car that sees canyon runs or autocross. There is also a Yellowstuff front set DP42358R.
- Bluestuff NDX (track day). The Bluestuff NDX front pads DP52356NDX and Bluestuff NDX rear pads DP52357NDX are for regular track use. They are more aggressive than you need for commuting.
Match the part number to your caliper. The 2356 front and 2357 rear pad numbers are listed for Brembo-caliper cars. The 2358 front sets are listed for the 2.0T without naming Brembo, so confirm the fitment notes on the product page against your calipers before you order. If you are unsure, compare the pad shape on the product page to the pads in your car. You can browse all of our pads in brake pads.
EBC BSD Slotted Rotors
We carry the EBC BSD V-slot front rotor set BSD7795 and the BSD rear rotor set BSD7794 for Brembo-equipped 2.0T cars. Both are sold in pairs.
Slotted rotors earn their place when pads are worked hard. DBA, which also makes slotted rotors, says slots help clear brake dust and debris from between the pad and rotor and give gases a way out. That helps prevent pad glazing and keeps friction steady. For a car that only commutes, a quality plain rotor does the job, and slots add a little pad wear and noise. For a Brembo G70 that gets driven hard, slots with a Yellowstuff or Bluestuff pad make a good pairing. More rotor options are in our brake rotors collection.
Symptoms That Mean It Is Time
- High-pitched squeal from the wear indicator. Genesis says worn pads trigger a high-pitched warning sound from the front or rear brakes. It may come and go, or it may happen every time you brake. Do not keep driving on it.
- Continuous grinding or squealing. The owner's manual says occasional noise from the large-diameter Brembo brakes is normal. So are circular marks on the rotor face. A continuous grind or squeal, on the other hand, points to worn-out lining.
- Vibration or shudder through the steering wheel under braking. Genesis warns that repeated high-speed braking can deform components and cause vibration. At that point the rotors need attention, not just pads.
- Brake warning light with the parking brake released. On the G70 this light also indicates low fluid in the reservoir. Low fluid often means the pads are very worn, or that there is a leak.
Doing the Job: What to Replace Together
Genesis's instruction is simple: always replace brake pads as complete front or rear axle sets. The practical checklist:
- Parking brake. Most G70s have an Electronic Parking Brake. Genesis notes that the 2.0T Sport manual uses a manual parking brake instead. On EPB cars, the rear caliper pistons have to be retracted the way the service procedure specifies, usually with a scan tool service mode, before new rear pads go in. Forcing them back can damage the actuator.
- Rotors. Measure rotor thickness against the minimum stamped on the rotor, and check for runout. New pads on scored or warped rotors will not bed in properly.
- Hardware. Clean the caliper abutments and replace any worn clips or pins. A brake hardware kit is worth having on hand.
- Fluid. The G70 owner's manual calls for hydraulic brake fluid conforming to the DOT 4 specification. Keep the level between MIN and MAX. Performance pads run hotter, so a fluid flush is sensible if yours is old or dark.
- Torque and bedding. Torque caliper bracket bolts and wheel lug nuts to the values in the factory service manual. Then bed the new pads in before hard use.
On a Brembo car, a pad swap is a moderate driveway job with basic tools and a torque wrench. Pads plus rotors on all four corners takes longer, especially the rear on EPB cars.
Recall Check Before You Start
NHTSA lists campaign 21V161000 for the 2019 G70. It covers the ABS/traction control module, which could short internally and create a fire risk. That recall involves the brake control unit, not pads or rotors, but it is worth a free VIN check on the NHTSA recalls site before any brake work.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do all 2019 Genesis G70s have Brembo brakes?
No. Genesis's launch specifications list a standard system with 12.6-inch front and 12.4-inch solid rear discs, plus the Brembo system with 13.8-inch front and 13.4-inch rear ventilated discs. Brembo was standard on the 2.0T Sport manual and the 3.3T, and optional elsewhere.
Which EBC pad is best for a daily-driven G70?
Greenstuff 2000 or Redstuff. Both are street compounds with more bite than stock pads and manageable dust. Save Yellowstuff for spirited driving and Bluestuff NDX for track days.
Is brake squeal normal on the Brembo G70?
Some is. Genesis says the large-diameter Brembo brakes can squeal, squeak or groan and leave circular patterns on the discs without affecting performance. A continuous grind or squeal, or the high-pitched wear indicator, means it is time for pads.
What brake fluid does the G70 use?
The owner's manual specifies hydraulic brake fluid conforming to DOT 4.
Do I need a scan tool for the rear pads?
On cars with the Electronic Parking Brake, the rear calipers must be put into service mode before the pistons are retracted, and that usually takes a scan tool. The 2.0T Sport manual uses a manual parking brake.
Should I replace rotors when I install EBC pads?
Replace or resurface them if they are below minimum thickness, scored, or causing vibration. Fresh rotors give new pads the best surface to bed into.
