For the Cadillac Escalade, the DBA part we carry is the DBA Street Series XGold drilled and slotted rear rotor, DBA2011X, listed for 2007-2020 Escalades. It is a 345 mm, six-lug vented rotor sold singly (you need two per axle), and it pairs with a quality pad set front and rear so the whole truck brakes evenly. Below is exactly what it fits, how it compares to stock, and what to buy with it.
Which DBA Part Fits the Escalade
DBA (Disc Brakes Australia) builds its Street Series as an OE-level upgrade for daily drivers, light commercial vehicles and SUVs, which is the right category for a full-size luxury SUV that spends most of its life on the street. The XGold version adds a cross-drilled and slotted face plus a gold finish on the hat.
The Escalade rotor in our catalog is the DBA Street Series XGold rear rotor DBA2011X for 2007-2020 Cadillac Escalade. It is a rear-axle part only. If you own a 1999-2006 or a 2021-and-newer Escalade, this rotor is not listed for your truck; see the full upgrade section below for parts that are.
DBA2011X published specifications
| Spec | DBA2011X |
|---|---|
| Axle position | Rear |
| Diameter | 345 mm (about 13.6 in) |
| New thickness | 20 mm |
| Minimum thickness | 18.5 mm |
| Overall height | 85.3 mm |
| Stud holes / pitch circle | 6 on 139.7 mm (6 x 5.5 in) |
| Center bore | 78.6 mm |
| Vane design | Vented (DBA KP vents) |
| Surface | Cross drilled and slotted |
| Weight | 10.26 kg (about 22.6 lb) each |
| Quantity per vehicle | 2 |
Two numbers matter most here. The 1.5 mm gap between new thickness (20 mm) and minimum thickness (18.5 mm) is all the wear the rotor is designed to take, so a rear rotor that measures at or under 18.5 mm is done, whether it looks good or not. And because the rotor is sold each, order two for a rear brake job.
How the Street Series XGold Differs From a Stock Rotor
A stock Escalade rear rotor is a plain-face vented casting. The DBA XGold changes three things:
- Drilled and slotted face. DBA says the non-directional cross-drilled and slotted pattern increases the number of exit points so pad dust and gases can escape through both the holes and the slots. On a heavy SUV that means a cleaner pad-to-rotor interface and a more consistent bite during repeated stops.
- Non-directional pattern. Because the drilling and slotting are not left- or right-handed, the same part number goes on either side of the rear axle. There is no left/right mix-up to worry about.
- Gold finish on the hat. The hat carries DBA's gold finish so the center of the rotor does not turn orange behind open-spoke wheels. DBA also describes its EnShield process on Street Series parts as a zinc/aluminium water-based coating baked onto the rotor for corrosion resistance.
What it is not: DBA itself says the XGold gives a benefit similar to its T2 slotted design, with the drilled look being a popular choice for show vehicles. It is a street upgrade, not a race rotor. If your Escalade tows regularly, the rotor still works, but pad choice matters more than rotor face design for fade resistance.
Symptoms That Say the Rear Rotors Are Due
- High-pitched squeal while driving. The Escalade owner's manual states the disc brake pads have built-in wear indicators that make a high-pitched sound when the pads are worn. If the pads have run down to the indicator, measure the rotors too.
- Pulsation felt in the seat rather than the steering wheel. Front rotor problems usually show up in the wheel; rear rotor thickness variation tends to show up as a shudder through the body.
- Grooving or a lip at the outer edge. A heavy lip means the rotor has worn toward minimum thickness. Measure with a micrometer against the 18.5 mm limit.
- Rapid increase in pedal travel. Cadillac's manual says to see a dealer if the pedal does not return to normal height or if pedal travel increases quickly. That is a hydraulic concern, not a rotor one, and needs diagnosis before any parts go on.
What to Replace at the Same Time
New rotors always get new pads. Cadillac's own manual says brake pads should be replaced as complete sets, and running old, glazed pads on fresh rotors wastes the rotors.
The Escalade rear pads we carry are generation-specific, so match them to your model year and engine:
- Hawk Super Duty rear brake pads HB568P.666 for 2007-2008 Escalade 6.2 - a heavy-duty compound suited to a truck that tows or carries full loads.
- EBC Yellowstuff rear pads DP41780R for 2009-2014 Escalade 6.0L Hybrid - a high-friction street and tow compound.
Also inspect the rear caliper slide pins and pad abutment clips. Seized pins cause uneven pad wear that will chew up a new rotor quickly, and a brake hardware kit is inexpensive insurance. If a caliper piston is sticking, replace it now from our brake calipers section rather than after it has scored the new rotor.
Brake fluid: Cadillac specifies DOT 3 in the Escalade, as marked on the master cylinder reservoir cap. The manual also notes the fluid level drops as the linings wear and comes back up when new linings go in, so do not top off a low reservoir before a pad job or it may overflow when you push the pistons back.
Building a Full Escalade Brake Upgrade
DBA2011X covers the rear. For the front of the truck and for other generations, these Escalade parts are in our catalog:
- Hawk SuperDuty front pads HB561P.710 for 2007-2008 Escalade 6.2L - pairs naturally with the Hawk rears above.
- Hawk Talon HTC4403 drilled and slotted front rotor set for 2007 Escalade - gives the front axle a drilled and slotted look to match the DBA rears.
- EBC Yellowstuff front pads DP41830R for 2009-2014 Escalade 6.0L Hybrid, or the EBC Extra Duty ED91830 set for the same truck.
- EBC GD Sport slotted front rotors GD7013 for 1999-2001 Escalade 5.7 - for first-generation trucks, which the DBA rear does not cover.
- EBC Extra Duty front pads ED93097 and rear pads ED93098 for 2020-and-newer Escalade 3.0L turbo diesel.
Mixing brands front to rear is fine as long as each axle gets matching parts left and right. What you want to avoid is an aggressive new pad on one axle and a worn stock pad on the other, which changes brake balance. Browse everything for the truck in our brake rotors and brake pads collections.
Installation Difficulty and Bedding In
A rear rotor and pad job on an Escalade is a moderate DIY job with hand tools, a jack and stands, a micrometer and a torque wrench. The rotors are heavy at over 22 lb each, so plan for that when pulling them off. Clean the hub face of rust before fitting the new rotor so it sits flat; a rotor sitting on a rust ridge creates runout and the pulsation you were trying to fix. Torque the caliper bracket bolts and wheel nuts to the values in the factory service information, in a star pattern. Cadillac's manual specifically ties proper wheel nut tightening to preventing brake pulsation.
Then bed the pads in. DBA's procedure: on coated rotors, first make several light stops at around 30 mph to wipe the coating off the contact faces. Next, accelerate to about 30 mph (50 km/h) and brake with moderate force down to about 5 mph (10 km/h) without coming to a full stop. Repeat 10 times with a 30-second cool-down between applications. Afterwards, drive normally but avoid heavy braking for the first 120 miles (200 km) to prevent glazing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does DBA make a rotor for my 2007-2020 Cadillac Escalade?
Yes. The DBA Street Series XGold DBA2011X is a drilled and slotted rear rotor listed for 2007-2020 Escalade. It is sold individually, so order two for the rear axle.
Is DBA2011X a left or right rotor?
Neither. DBA uses a non-directional drilling and slotting pattern on the XGold, so the same part fits both rear corners.
What is the minimum thickness for the DBA2011X rotor?
DBA lists 18.5 mm minimum thickness on a 20 mm new rotor. Replace it once it measures at or below 18.5 mm.
Can I tow with drilled and slotted rotors on my Escalade?
DBA designs the Street Series for SUV and light commercial use. For regular towing, focus on the pad compound as well: a heavy-duty pad such as Hawk SuperDuty or EBC Yellowstuff is built for sustained heat.
What brake fluid does the Escalade use?
Cadillac fills the Escalade with DOT 3 brake fluid, as marked on the reservoir cap. Always use the fluid your reservoir cap specifies.
Do I have to bed in new DBA rotors?
Yes. DBA recommends about 10 moderate slow-downs from 30 mph to 5 mph with 30 seconds of cooling between each, then no heavy braking for the first 120 miles.
